Issue
Postini customers may experience occasional and intermittent delays receiving mail routed through a MessageLab MTA, when Connection Manager has detected some type of attack coming from the server.
Resolution
If Connection Manager detects a widespread attack against several customers on a particular system (we currently have 5 systems [aka clusters] ), socket-blocking will be put in place against the offending IP for one hour. This means that all connection attempts from that particular IP address will be denied, which should cause most MTAs to defer (queue) mail messages.
Additional Information
This is different from the regular Connection Manager blocking, which actually rejects (bounces) mail traffic with a configurable 500-series response.
