554 Cannot relay journal - psmtp




ISSUE 

Microsoft Exchange is configured to forward archived mail to the custom archive recipient as listed in the Archive Manager settings. The messages are being forwarded, but bounce with the following SMTP error code: 

"554 Cannot relay journal - psmtp" 


CAUSE 

This means that the IP address of the Exchange server that is sending the mail to Archive Manager is not listed in the access control list for Archive Manager. 


RESOLUTION 

To add the address to the ACL, find the email config organization in the Perimeter Manager administration console and click the Archiving icon, and add a new IP range that includes the sending IP address.
